Some thoughts based on experience of talking to customers about the period before they called us!
You need software to perform a task in your business and you will probably check the internet or even High Street shops such as PC World but are unable to find the right programme.
So what next ?
Have a program written especially for me ?
That would probably too expensive wouldn't it?
But it costs absolutely nothing to find out!
You then worry about creating a specification as you are sure the more you tell us the better it will be to keep the costs down...
That would be totally incorrect!
An exploratory chat for around an hour would be enough for us to start the project.
When a 'reasonable' programme is working we will visit you again to install it and leave it for you to play with.
At this point your thought processes go into overdrive and the "Can I have" questions start.
Of course you can "Now what was the question?"
ALL very painless and at less cost than you wouldhave imagined!
( But it is also at this point that other Software companies would put in 'Extra' charges as your "Can I Have" questions were not in the Specification! )
Most software companies really do charge like wounded bulls at this point. The reason? They can! You have no choice!
Our experience has shown the average programme will be paid for within 12 months but of course the savings go on year after year after year.
In addition we allow 90 days for you to explore the system and think of things previously never thought about that perhaps should have been included.
